Mobile voicemail update

We're updating our voicemail system

On Thursday 17 October 2024, we’ll be updating voicemail for our mobile customers.

The new system is designed to be easier to use and includes minor improvements to help deliver a better mobile experience.

The way you use the system won’t change much but there’s one important thing you need to be aware of.

Important information

As part of this system change, all saved voicemail messages will be deleted. If you want to keep any of your saved messages, you’ll need to record them somewhere else before 31 October 2024.

Voicemail remains free to access from within New Zealand by calling 600 from your mobile. Your existing greeting and PIN will also carry over to the new system.

If you have any questions, please check the FAQs below or get in touch.

Frequent questions

When exactly will the system change happen?

The change process will start from around 9pm on 17 October 2024 and last for up to 9 hours. Our team will be working hard overnight to ensure the changeover runs smoothly.

How do I save any important messages I want to keep?

The easiest way to do this is to turn on speakerphone, play the voicemail message you want to keep and record it on another device e.g. a different mobile phone, tablet or laptop. You might want to ask a friend or family member to help if you need to.

Can I access my voicemail during the system change?

Yes, you will still have access to voicemail throughout the change process. Once the change is complete, you’ll have an option to access your old voicemail from the main menu of the new system. This option will only be available until 31 October 2024.

Will people be able to leave me messages during the system change?

Yes, voicemail will remain available to callers at all times. If you’re concerned about missing important messages, you could use call forwarding to another number just in case e.g. a landline number or a mobile on another network.

How do I set up call-forwarding on my mobile?

Options for call forwarding differ depending on the type of mobile device you have.

  • On an iPhone, go to Settings > Phone > Call Forwarding
  • For Samsung, launch the Phone app and select Settings > Supplementary services > Call Forwarding
